
Ibrahim Al-Assil is a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute (MEI), where he specializes in geopolitics, state evolution, and regional security, with particular expertise in the dynamics of the Gulf and Levant regions. He is also a professorial lecturer at George Washington University's Department of Political Science.
Dr. Al-Assil has extensive experience in conflict resolution, regional Track II dialogues, and grassroots movements. He has held fellowships at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University’s Center for Public Leadership and the Orient Research Centre in Dubai. He has also served on various boards, including the Harvard Arab Alumni Association, the Syrian Nonviolence Movement, and strategic advisory groups.
Dr. Al-Assil has testified at the United Nations and has been published and quoted in leading outlets such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, and Foreign Affairs. He is also a frequent political commentator and has appeared on BBC, CNN, and Sky News, where he offers insights on regional and global political developments.
He holds a Doctor of International Affairs (DIA) from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, a Master in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and an MBA from the University of Essex.
He is a native Arabic speaker.
